The Start.

As an avid story teller on the previous FM games, I have decided to create my first on 2011 to share with whoever may follow this blog. The layout will be simple, nothing to flash etc. And, for those who clicked the link from FM-Base will know that the team of which I shall be managing will be Heart of Midlothian, or as many know us, Hearts. From Edinburgh, Scotland, they play in Marron. If you wish to learn more, click THIS link to the Wikipedia page.

I'll give you the basis of the situation. I start the game with a surprising £275K to bring in some fresh faces. Although I have this, I didn't actually use it as I couldn't really see where the team needed to be heavily invested into. I analysed though that a RB was needed as Craig Thomson wasn't just ready yet. Yes he's a good young player IMO, just not quite the full package yet. With Jack Fulham's shortlist though I had spotted what looked like a certain bargain, Coelho. A Brazilian RB who was very technically gifted, espicially in the free-kick departmant (18). At the age of 27 and a 2nd nationality of Portugese, he looked ideal. After some good talks with his agent I managed to sign him and he became my 1st signing. I then was offered a former legend, I say this even though he still plays. During his time at Deportivo La Courna though Diego Tristan was deadly and was considered one of the most lethal strikers in Europe at one point. Now, at 34, he was slowly approuching the end of his career as he had became a bit of a journeyman, formerly playing for West Ham and Cadiz recently. After signing him initially on a 4 week trial, he impressed greatly and netted twice in 2 pre-season frendlies. This though attracted greater interest in him. Dutch side NAC Breda made the 1st move and offered him a permanent deal. Unsure on what to do I had to act quickly. With Kevin Kyle, Steven Elliot, Calum Elliot and Gary Glen already in my team, the forward position wasn't exactly one I was struggling with. But knowing the experiance that Tristan could bring to the side, I also acted. In a good turn of events, The Spainiard agreed to join my club and is now poised to play in the 1st team alongside Kyle should he keep his good form up. Read more on him HERE. My latest signing (I've currently only entered August) was Middlesbrough utility man Matthew Bates. Able to play RB, CB, DM and CM he looked ideal. being on the transfer list at £300K it appeared that my luck was in even further. I knew I couldn't afford the player with straight up cash, and being a Hearts fan I'm aware we're not in the a Man City situation with funds. So I looked into a loan deal, one which I thought was outstanding value. For £16K and only half his wages (£4000) I brought in the 23 year old Englishman. Although I still have another month left for possible transfer, I can safely say I am pretty content with the side. My only change is the hopeful loan departure of either Gary Glen or Calum Elliot, something which I fear I may regret if I do so.
